Who Created This Economic Mess?

Well, the democrats can take all of the credit for this one.
copy and paste the link below to watch a clip of the democrats claiming there was nothing
wrong with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when Republicans were trying to fix the problem.
John McCain warned what would happen to the economy years ago if they did nothing to
fix it and McCain was right.

One Barrel of Oil Produces What?

I was going through the (EIA) Energy Information Administration website to answer some questions my State Representative Jay Inslee raised in response to the Drill Here, Drill Now email I sent him and I found some interesting information. For example:

Question: How many gallons of gasoline does one barrel of oil make?
      Answer:
One barrel (42 gallons) of crude oil, when refined, yields approximately 19.6
                    gallons of finished motor gasoline.

The remainder of the barrel yields distillate fuel oil, residual fuel oil, jet fuel,
                    and other products.

Question: What are the products and uses of petroleum?
      Answer:
The most common products from petroleum are energy products: gasoline,
heating oil, and diesel fuel. Other petroleum products are: ink, crayons,
bubble gum, dishwashing liquids, deodorant, eyeglasses, records, tires,
                    ammonia, and heart valves.
One barrel of oil yields these refined products (percent of barrel):
47% gasoline for use in automobiles or about 20 gallons
23% heating oil and diesel fuel or 7 gallons of diesel
18% other products, which includes petrochemical feedstock—products derived
from petroleum principally for the manufacturing  of chemicals, synthetic rubber
               and plastics.

       10% jet fuel
       4% propane
       3% asphalt

The Anti-Drill Here, Drill Now people say they want to completely eliminate oil.
I guess that means wind turbines, wind turbine blades, bearing grease, solar panels, piping for
water, drainage pipes, roofing materials, clean energy automobiles, televisions, radios (they
might actually like this one), make-up, the list goes on and the very pens and ink used to sign
bills congress passes may be done away with. All of these things are the result of oil and how
vital it is to our culture and way of life.
They are claiming the drilling here won't change the price of fuel very much if any, but we
won't know until we try it. Gas prices dropped almost immediately after President George
Bush withdrew the ban on drilling a few days ago, but in order for it to take effect congress
has to eliminate the ban as well. The reason the gas prices dropped was because OPEC was
shaking in their boots at the thought of us drilling here at home. The sooner we start, the
sooner gas prices will go down for good or at least until we can reasonably develop
alternatives to gasoline. We are not at that point yet and won't be for 30 to 50 years or so.
From the national security  point of view, it makes total sense to drill here in light of what is
going on with Georgia. Russia is out of control and is going for the oil pipe-line in Georgia and
no other reason. If they succeed in the land grab there will be an immense price for the world
to pay. The speaker of the House needs to get back to work for Americans now. Show
America the spirit of partnership and not partisanship Mrs Palosi.

Get Back To Work Palosi

On Thursday, January 04, 2007 Nancy Palosi taking the gavel from John Boehner,
said "I accept this gavel in the spirit of partnership not partisanship, and look forward to working... with you on behalf of the American people". She went on to say, "In this House, we may belong to different parties, but we serve one country".
Those were nice words and everyone was singing cumbya, but now the rubber
is meeting the road and Nancy Palosi decided to go sell her book and do the very thing she vowed not to do when she took that gavel. Partisanship is what Palosi is playing by not allowing the Republicans to pass an energy bill. China censored journalists at the Olympics and Palosi censored the members of the House of Representatives by turning off the lights and ordering C-Span televisions turned off.

Is this the kind of partnership she was talking about?

Mrs Palosi, we the American people want you to please get back to work and finish your job.
The drop in oil price is only temporary, so take advantage of it now before the elections if you want keep control of the house.

A summit with Muslim Nations?

Obama wants to hold a summit with Muslim nations

PARIS ( AP )U.S. presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said in an interview
with a French magazine published Thursday that if he wins he wants to organize a
summit of Muslim nations for frank talks on bridging the divide between Muslims and
the West. His priority, he told Paris Match, would be ending the war in Iraq, removing
one to two brigades per month with all troops out around 2009.
Obama also wants to set aright the U.S. image in the Muslim world, organizing a summit
"with all the heads of state to discuss frankly how to bridge the gap growing each day
between Muslims and the West." He said he would like to ask Muslim heads of state to
join the war against terrorism. "We must also listen to their concerns," he added.
Obama also told Paris Match he wanted direct talks with countries like Iran and Syria.
"We won't be able to stabilize the region if we don't talk to our enemies," Obama was
quoted as saying. His remarks were translated into French. Obama has worked to
correct the misconception that he himself is a Muslim, emphasizing that he attends a
Christian church. His father and stepfather were Muslim and he spent part of his
childhood in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country.
